Yikes!!!

It's Like Gillette Stadium Is RMS Titanic...

and the fans are the women and children...leaving first.

With 14:08 left in the fourth quarter, LB Joey Porter recovers a Patriot fumble, and the Dolphins take possession...again.

It's almost like the Patriots' game plan was to keep the Miami offense on the field all day, so as to tire them out. Hell, with all of Ronnie Brown's work today, it's a wonder he doesn't need a nap.

The other bright spots as the game clock winds down:

the play of LB Channing Crowder;

the hard work of Ikechuku Ndukwe;

the blistering hits of DE Vonnie Holliday;

five touchdowns in eight possessions; and,

the pressure brought by LB Joey Porter.

Now, if the Dolphins can play like this next week.

Quiet in New England...

It's A Crisp Fall Day In New England.

The sun is shining, and it seems warmer than it should for this time of year. The Patriots are playing the Dolphins at Gillette Stadium, and there is the same feeling among Patriot Nation that there is when the Red Sox play the Evil Empire--the New York Yankees.

The Bradyless Patriots are 2-0; and, the Dolphins are, well, winless.

For the last week, I have been listening to the kind of smack talk that gets rappers shot (or Candidate Obama in trouble with the lipstick-wearing half of the population).

And today, at least for now, I feel vindicated in some of my responses to Patriot Nation.

Ronnie Brown has been on fire. He has worked well with Ricky Williams to keep the Pats' defense off-balance (which is, admittedly, pretty hard to do). Chad Pennington has passed well, scrambling and ducking when necessary; and, showing off his throwing arm. The tight ends and receivers have made the catches when called upon. The defense, surprisingly, has been tenacious and aggressive, hectoring Matt Cassell; and, effectively shutting down the vaunted Patriots offense through at least three quarters.

So, at the end of three, with the Patriots trailing 28-13, I am happy.

And Patriot Nation...

they are blissfully silent.

Miami vs Arizona

At first glance this game looks like a no brainer. The Cardinals should walk away with a victory. But last week the 49ers, who are not a very good team, challenged the Cardinals. Kurt Warner need to remain consistant in the passing game for the Cardinals to be successful. With that said, I am taking the Dolphins on the road. I believe that Chad Pennington will have a big day against the Cardinals defense. He will control the ball taking time off the clock.

You know after last week's loss to the Jets that Bill parcells was in all the team meetings.

Look for the Dolphins to continue to gain confidence and play hard.

The Dolphins 24-17!!!

Better than I expected

For the Miami Dolphins the 2008 campaign started off better than I could have expected. The Dolphins were actually in the game right down to the last second. The "New Era" in Miami has begun and Dolphin fans should be excited about what they saw. The team was competitive, and after a rocky start, shut down the Jets and actually should have won the game.

Chad Pennington drove the offense down the field on 3 consective drives late in the forth quarter to place Miam in a position to win the game. The key plays were the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th downs on the goal line that Miami could not punch in for the score. The Dolphins will get better as the years goes on. You can see in each Dolphin players eyes a sense of confidence building.

This team is going to be better than most give it credit.

After last season, there is something to look at on the field other than the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders!!!!

A new beginning? Probably not, but ...

As a seven-year Dolphins season ticket holder and live witness to the post-Marino meltdown of one of the great professional football franchises, I have stretched but high hopes that today's opener against the Jets will be the beginning of a comeback

But Ricky Williams in the backfield? It's like a CD that keeps sticking. I was in the Dolphin Stands (then still "Pro Player") when he led the NFL in rushing, but since then the best athletes named Williams in South Florida have been two tennis-playing sisters.

Oh well, true fans never say never, so here's hoping ...

Dolphins '08

Right now looking at this team I think they're headed in the right direction. Chad Pennington atleast gives the team some experience. He is IMO one of the most physically limited Qb's in the league. Though he can get the job done untill Chad Henne is ready. For a group that seemed pompous last year with the pick of Ginn and Beck atleast one of them is on the outs. Ginn seems to show some promise. Does he have the ability to be a true #1? I don't know.

Playing Favre will get alot of attention. Pennington vs Favre will be built up. Though if the Dolphins can establish the run and we see the Favre of 05 & 06 with a TD/INT ration of 38/47 they've got a chance.

Guys who need to step up this season:
-Jason Allen - make or break season
-Channing Crowder - shows signs but can he become an elite player
-Matt Roth - not looking to replace JT, just don't be a liability
-Ronnie Brown - i'm looking forward to seeing him the final 10 games when he'll be fully healed.
